Spanish Trabadillo - Advanced Gypsum & Lime Flooring Workshop.

Spiti Valley

We are excited to announce our Advanced Spanish Trabadillo Continuous Lime Flooring Workshop, a four-day immersive experience designed as a natural progression from the Introductory Trabadillo workshop. Set against the dramatic backdrop of our heritage reconstruction site in the Spiti Valley, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to be part of a live Trabadillo floor installation. Focusing on the application of this traditional Spanish technique at scale, participants will deepen their understanding of working with gypsum—a fast-setting material—by learning to use natural retardants to manage timing and workflow. From base preparation to mixing mortar, adding pigments, application, and final finishing with sealants and waxes, this hands-on workshop will guide you through the complete process of crafting a durable, sculptural, and visually rich lime-gypsum floor.

This advanced Spanish Trabadillo Continuous Lime Flooring Workshop offers an in-depth exploration of the traditional method of installing seamless gypsum and lime floors. Designed for experienced practitioners, the workshop offers two modes of participation: a hands-on track for those skilled in plastering and ready to engage directly with the materials, and an active observer track for those who wish to learn the technique in order to train their teams, without participating in the physical installation. Time permitting, the session will also include the creation of a small Scagliola flooring sample, showcasing this intricate and decorative finish.
